FNFF – Mama

Family is a bitch when Horror Guru’s mom comes to visit. Can Horror Guru convince Count Jackula and MAsked Slasher to help him against the dreaded parental visit, all the while reviewing Mama starring Jessica Chastain, and produced by Guillermo del Toro?

This was probably our most ambitious episode in terms of greenscreening and cinematography. Though I vastly prefer shooting on location and physical sets, it felt great to create locations out of nothing. With that said, I want to say something to everyone who’s getting ready to shoot on greenscreen, “LONG HAIR IS YOUR ENEMY!” When dealing with the footage of Mama Guru, I kept wishing we had recognized this problem, if anyone out there knows how to deal with long flowing hair on a greenscreen, please let me know.

Also I want to apologize for how long this one took to finish. Normally an episode takes about 2 days for us to film and 2 days to edit. This one, however took considerably longer. This wasn’t helped by the fact that during editing I came down with the Death Flu. As my wife will tell you, I do not deal with illness heroically. I whimpered and cried, beating myself up for not being able to work, all while trying to put the episode together. Well, I say “put the episode together” but what I really mean was “running a 102 degree fever, unable to concentrate.”

We take a swing at Texas Chainsaw 3D, directed by John Luessenhop, and starring Dan Yeager as the new Leatherface. This movie represents a new level of complete reboot cycle inanity as it’s a reboot of the original sequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Man we’re gonna need a reboot of the sequel to the reboot at this point.

In this episode of Friday Night Fright Flicks Masked Slasher has lost his mojo and can’t slash anymore. Though Horror Guru and Count Jackula could care less, the always beautiful and voluptuous Queen of Trash lends Masked Slasher a hand.
